I have a new range of lip pencils that have been added into my collection of favourites. The new MAKE UP FOR EVER High Precision Lip Pencil ($18 US/$22 CAD) has this magical formula that perfectly rides the line between smooth and creamy, yet still firm, to offer both smooth application without tugging and precision. The formula sets on the lips for long lasting wear with a Candelilla and Carbauba wax blend. Olive oil and a glycerin complex in the formula keeps lips nourished and comfortable.

There are twelve shades in the range that are divided into three natural tone categories; nude, pink, and red. All of the shades, which were curated by professional makeup artists, are very natural and universally flattering. Meant to naturally define and enhance the lips and coordinate with a wide range of lip colours. While I am very pleased with the wearability of all twelve of the shades this is actually where my only complaint about the collection of lip liners comes in. I find that many of the shades look quite similar on my skin tone. I think the fact that my skin tends to make shades pull warmer and darker is partially responsible. I find myself yearning for a wider variety of shades and some cooler tones. So basically my only complaint is I want them to release more shades! The formula is divine so more please.

Normally I always provide lip swatches for lip products but I have been out of lip swatching commission with my chapped lips and nose area from this cold I’m trying to shake. Hopefully I can update the post with some lip swatches down the road.

Have you tried these yet? I find having good quality lip liners in your stash really is a game changer. I know so many people don’t even bother using them, but if you haven’t made them part of your routine yet I strongly encourage you to give it a try. It can make such a dramatic difference in your lip looks. Especially if you have uneven lip pigmentation, uneven lip borders, smaller lips, etc.
