One of the things I struggle with most with my skin is pigmentation from the sun. The left side of my face is a particular problem area from driving. I do always wear sun protection everyday but there were years I wasn’t so diligent and being so fair I think even protecting myself I am still compounding the damage. I was very excited at the opportunity to test out Luminaze. Luminaze is a patented, natural enzyme that is clinically proven to work better and faster than the leading prescription ingredient: hydroquinone. And, Luminaze is gentle enough to use every day.
I first heard about Luminaze from Tracy at Beauty Reflections and later discovered the lovely Eugenia at Ommorphia Beauty Bar had great success with it as well. Click to check out their reviews.
THE SCIENCE OF LUMINAZE
The Luminaze enzyme is harvested from a mushroom that grows on trees high in the Swiss alps. It was noticed that the bark surrounding these mushrooms was decolourized. The same properties that were found by researchers to lighten the color of the bark result in the breakdown of melanin in the skin for a dramatic improvement in the appearance of dark spots from sun and aging. Simply a breakthrough.
Enzymes are targeted proteins that increase the rate of chemical reactions. Because enzymes are targeted they do only one thing. The Luminaze enzyme targets melanin and breaks it down; in contact with anything else, it is innocuous. The enzyme is targeted, effective, but also gentle and safe.
Luminaze is indeed gentle enough to use everyday. I, in fact, used it twice a day. I found the formula really lovely. Normally I would find a product like this drying but Luminaze was so hydrating I actually found that even with my dry skin I didn’t really need to follow with a moisturizer. If you have anything other than dry skin I can see Luminaze being all the product you need to keep your skin feeling healthy. I great feature considering it is quite an investment for a treatment product.

Luminaze contains a total of 30ml of product divided into two 15 ml chambers. The first being the Active Luminaze Enzyme and the second the Bio-Activator.

I have been using Luminaze for the past 3.5 weeks or so. Luminaze promotes:
Luminaze actually breaks down melanin for a visible improvement in the appearance of dark spots and overall evenness of skin tone in only 7 days. It’s clinically proven to work better and faster than the leading prescription ingredient, and it’s gentle enough to use every day.
So I didn’t feel I was jumping the gun to much after reviewing for almost 4 weeks. Have I noticed an improvement in my skin in the past few weeks? Absolutely. Have I noticed a lightening of my more prominent hyper-pigmentation? Well Im not so sure. Below are before and after pics of my “driving side”. You’ll notice first of all my skin is much more red and ruddy in the first picture. I think I was a bit flushed compared to my after shot but I also thing there has been a reduction in the amount of redness I’ve been experiencing on my skin. I also feel that even though my dark spots don’t appear to have lightened much my skin still looks more even in tone and I absolutely feel the texture and luminosity have improved. I’m looking forward to seeing what continued use of Luminaze will mean for my skin.
Luminaze can be found exclusively at The Bay in Canada and Nordstrom and Sephora in the US and retails for $120 CAD.
