I first saw the new L’Oreal Visible Lift Colour Blush at the Spring 2013 launch/holiday party back in November. I fell in love with the bouncy, creamy formula and natural shades. As soon as I saw them on display at Shoppers Drug Mart I grabbed Rose Gold Lift. I really wanted to try more shades but at $18.99 *gulp* each I restrained myself to one. Note that the suggested retail on these is $16.99 but SDM tends to run a bit pricier.
The blushes are housed in compact, flip-top, plastic packaging. I really like the sleek design.
Rose Gold Lift is a pretty medium rose with a lot of gold shimmer. Funny it doesn’t look that shimmery in the pan in these pics but even in store lighting the first thought I had was wow, these are shimmery. I really wanted to be able to share my experience with this new blush with you though so I still bought it even though normally I would steer clear of something with this much shimmer. The product is touted to have a hint of shimmer for a youthful glow but personally I find it to be quite shimmery. The blushes are designed to bring radiance and luminosity back to aging skin with Tourmaline. It’s lightweight powder in a creamy texture is supposed to resist settling in fine lines and offer a glowing, healthy flush without talc and wax. I really love the feel and application of these. They don’t look powdery on the skin but rather melt into it for a really natural flush. The only thing that is unnatural is the amount of shimmer. If these offered a very subtle hint of glow I would be over the moon with them.
Note the texture. These are just like the Maybelline Bouncy blushes. You can push your finger into them and it moulds around the pressure while still feeling light. I find it hard to pick up product with a brush with these because it just makes the product move around in the pan. I find application with a finger works much better. If you do want a really subtle effect though a brush is the way to go.
When swatched the gold in Rose Gold Lift really comes to light. I find the amount of gold shimmer translated to the cheeks to equal that of the rose flush.
There are six shades of L’Oreal Visible Lift Colour Blush ($16.99) available. Rose Gold Lift (shown here), Coral Lift, Pink Lift, Peach Gold Lift, Nude Lift, Berry Lift. All of the shades are gorgeous and very natural looking to suit a variety of skintones. I think I will try one of the shades not listed with gold in the name to see if the shimmer is a little less prevalent on the face. In the store they all appeared quite shimmery to my eyes. If you are not afraid of shimmer I definitely recommend checking these out. They wore well for me but I don’t tend to to have many issues with blushes fading.
