L’Oreal has totally revamped their eyeshadow quads for 2013. The new Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quads are made up of micro-milled pigments in a crystal-clear base that creates a silk texture and rich smooth colour. Sound pretty enticing doesn’t it. There are 20 colour combinations ranging from everyday neutrals to vibrant and fun plays with colour. I have three of the new quads to share with you today. Good Luck Charm, Sultry Seductress, and Cookies & Cream.
I really liked the colour combinations of all three of these quads. They are well put together and work beautifully to create a full, cohesive look. Sometimes a quad will still require bringing in some extra help from another eyeshadow or two to make a look work but these are well though out. I am not a huge fan of the gold packaging and the shape and layout of the pans makes it a little tricky to get the product out but I appreciate the creative touch.
Good Luck Charm includes a pink with gold shimmer, shimmering pale cream, matte warm medium brown, and matte warm deeper brown. The first two shades are offer a bit more of a sheer finish. The two matte shades are really great for a drugstore offering. They blend well and didn’t look chalky at all. This is a great everyday quad.
Sultry Seductress offers a great smokey eye with a pop of colour. The first shade is a very shimmery taupe brown with quite a bit of fallout. It has really nice colour payoff though. Just be sure to apply your base after your eye look is complete. There is also a sheer, shimmering cream. The third shade is a really nice medium pigmented purple that pulls a bit more cranberry on my skin. It did retain a bit more of it’s purple hue on my lid though. The last shade is a deep charcoal with a bit of sparkle. It is a bit sheer but works great on the lid. This quad lasted a full day with no primer on me. I was super impressed and loved the look. See pics at the end of this review.
Cookies & Cream is a great tradition grey smokey eye quad. The first two shades are a light grey and shimmery white with a sheer frost finish. The third shade is a nicely pigmented frosty grey. The final shade is matte black with sparkle of decent pigmentation.
Here is a look I did with Sultry Seductress. I really quite like this quad. As long as you are careful with the fallout the results are lovely.
Overall I’m impressed with these eyeshadow quads from L’Oreal in terms of a drugstore offering. They won’t have me trading in my high end favourites but I am certainly beginning to change my attitude towards the products being offered by drugstores these days. These had better wear time with no primer than many high end eyeshadows I’ve tried which really blew me away. I wish these were priced closer to the US retail but at $11.99 they are still a great, affordable option.
