I don’t think I could have thought of a better formula, than Kat Von D’s signature matte eyeshadow formula, for the creation of an all matte pastel eyeshadow palette. The richly pigmented, ultra creamy, and blendable matte shadow formula is the perfect compliment to pastel hues. The new Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette ($38 US/$51 CAD) is fantastic, not only for the beautiful quality of the shadows, but also for the particular pastel shades that are included. These pastels are a little more saturated and have a gorgeous, almost murky quality to them, that just makes them a little more wearable, and dare I say a little more “grown up”, than your typical pastel eyeshadows.
The eight shades in the palette are:
- Star (matte daffodil yellow)
- Clementine (matte peach)
- Meow (matte lilac)
- Dope (matte lavender)
- Doom (matte sky blue)
- Gloom (matte meadow green)
- Dagger (matte stone gray)
- Skull (matte pure white)
Matte shadows, and especially light shades like these, can often have a chalky quality to them but the Pastel Goth palette has none of that chalkiness to it. The shadows offer great colour payoff while still looking flattering on the skin.
Now before you get all critical on me for the look below, keep in mind I literally just slapped all eight shades on my eyes for testing purposes. I actually ended up liking it a lot more than I thought. Even though it’s not the kind of look I would usually wear out of the house. 😉 I should have added some falsies just for fun. Oh well. Next time!
I think if you love colourful shadows then you will love this palette. As the day worn on I loved this look more and more. I didn’t notice any fading at all at the end of the day. The only drawback I would say, is that if you have dry lids like I do, the matte shadows aren’t always the best option. That is a given with any completely matte formula .
Will you be picking up the new Kat Von D Pastel Goth Palette? I am so happy I played with it because I am far more in love then I ever expected!
