I shared with you the initial release information on the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes($41 CAD/$35 US) back in January. I was so excited about this release. My beloved Ambient Lighting Powder formula in blush form. Heaven. I was not the only one eagerly anticipating these blushes. Since then I have heard fairly mixed reviews of the blushes resulting mostly from the advanced miscelare technique used in the formulation of these hand made powders that results in each blush being unique. Particularly with shades like Ethereal Glow, that is on the lighter side of the shade spectrum, if the unique pattern of the blush results in a higher percentage of it being the Ambient Lighting Powder rather than the coloured blush shade, then the pigmentation of the blush may not be as intense as you’d like. When I was asked to select a colour I chose Luminous Flush. Even though Ethereal Glow seemed like the perfect shade for me, I knew that this mix of shades would result in an even softer result so I opted for something a bit more pigmented. I still think that Ethereal Glow will be my next purchase because on my fair skin I am confident that it will look lovely unless I end up with some really off balance mix of shades.
So here’s the deal. If you are purchasing in person, open the box and take a peek. Make sure you are happy with the unique formulation of your blush. If you are ordering online than accept the gamble but also note that stores like Sephora have excellent return policies. If you really feel you got a dud then exchange it!
I happen to be 100% happy with my Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush. The mix of the medium rose shade mixed with Luminous Light results in a lovely natural flush that has the natural radiance and glow that I expected from the Hourglass Ambient powder formula. There is no flatness, or chalkiness with this formula only luminous blushing skin. I found this blush to have an even silkier and creamier texture than my Ambient Lighting Powders. Pigmentation with this shade, and my particular unique cheek palette, is very intense. I need to use a fairly light hand with it.
The packaging is lighter golden bronze compared to the deeper brown bronze of the Ambient Lighting Powders. It has a very mirrored finish so shows fingerprints quickly. Size wise it is a bit smaller than the face compacts.
