The star piece of the Giorgio Armani Orient Excess Holiday 2014 Collection is the Orient Excess Palette ($98 CAD). This is a two tiered face and eye palette containing a translucent matte white face powder and 3 eyeshadows and it comes in an absolutely beautiful midnight blue velvet clutch.
Below is a picture of the clutch shown with a Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick to demonstrate the size. It is large enough to hold my iPhone 5, compact, and a lipstick along with some cash and cards.
The beautiful midnight blue palette nestled inside.
The upper tier of the palette is a porcelain white translucent powder with a soft matte finish. Absolute perfection on fair skin like mine and translucent and finely milled enough to work some winter glow magic on those with a bit deeper complexion.
The bottom level contains a trio of eyeshadows that are nothing less than spectacular. Inspired by the softest first to bring a touch of animal warmth to the skin, these shadows are developed with “Fur Colour Pearls” technology. Funny name but this technology of pearl particles of varying shapes and sizes gives a beautiful effect and offers the soft gleam of luxurious mink, chinchilla, and sable furs.
These eyeshadows are so smooth, buttery and pigmented. They apply and blend like an absolute dream and the combination of browns and grey make for a gorgeous and interesting smoky eye. These applied rich and vibrantly even without a primer and lasted all day without fading or creasing. I can’t believe I almost thought the colour choices boring at first glance. I was so wrong. I am obsessed with this palette now! There is just something about the finish that is so flattering on my eyes. It’s like the eyeshadows makes the crepey texture of my eyelids disappear. They give such rich intense colour with a soft diffused finish. After using these shades the reference to animal fur no longer seems obscure but rather makes perfect sense.
Below is a look featuring the palette. I used the face powder as my base shade from crease to brow as well.
I think the presentation of this palette, as well as the wearable and versatile colours within, make it a great gift giving option or personal splurge. Will you be picking this up for yourself or someone special?
