Mystic Metallics, the Dior Galaxy “The colour harmonies that I have created for this look reflect the mysterious colours of the galaxy. Like a journey from the earth to the moon.” Tyen, Dior Makeup Creative Director.
The 2013 Fall/Autumn Dior makeup collection brings us the gorgeous and intense shades of metallic stars and the mystery of the galaxies. The colour palette, as well as the gorgeous star embossed design of the Bonne Etoile quint, are breathtaking. I feel this palette truly is a must have for the season.
I couldn’t resist posting A LOT of photos of this stunning palette. This is one of the loveliest designs I have experienced in a makeup product and digging in to do my swatches and testing was an exercise in determination. I knew it had to be done but I was cringing on the inside.
Now the best part is that I am happy to be able to say that the Dior 5 Couleurs Mystic Metallics palette in Bonne Etoile did not disappoint. These eyeshadows swatch and apply as beautifully as they look in the pan. These shades are richly pigmented and smooth. Especially the 3 deepest shades. You can create the smokiest of looks with the deep khaki green, dark teal blue, and rich bronze brown. Incorporate some of the sparkling platinum and sage green and you can achieve a softer look. What really makes this palette stand out for me is that it is not just a “complete eye look in a palette” kind of quint. Yes, you will need to work in an additional shadow for your brow bone, and depending on your lid type possibly a matte shade for the crease. While some may see this as a fault I do not. Brow bone and matte crease shades for me tend to a small group of tried and true shades I turn to again and again as the building blocks for my looks. This amazing Dior quint is a beautiful palette of colours that gives the opportunity for many, many different looks. Whether you are using 2, 3, 4, or maybe even all 5 shades, the possibilities are endless and gorgeous! This makes this a very versatile product and an excellent palette for sprucing up your existing collection with some fabulous new shades.
The shades all applied beautifully with excellent pigmentation. The platinum has quite a bit of shimmer yet manages to have very, very little fallout. The other shades have none. The platinum and sage green apply a little more sheerly than the other shades in the palette but build up nicely. They blend together effortlessly and lasted for me all day. Stay tuned for some looks featuring this quint. I know I won’t be able to resist posting several!
Dior 5 Couleurs Mystic Metallics in 384 Bonne Etoile ($61 CAD) is available at Dior counters. While the other quint Constellation will be available at Sephora, Bonne Etoile will not.
