If you haven’t seen the Dior Holiday collections before you may be wondering what those strange phallic shaped objects from outer space are. Well they are the Dior Diorific Lipsticks($40 CAD) from the Dior Golden Winter Holiday 2013 Color Collection. I have heard of personal massagers disguised as lipsticks but I must admit I’m confused by this reversal of that common practice. OK enough jokes about the packaging. Trust me what’s inside is worth whatever confusion the exterior may induce. I mean I know these obviously are a design that appeals to many women or Dior wouldn’t continue to use it every year. I personally just can’t figure it out.
Formula wise the Diorific lipsticks are a drier formula compared to the Rouge Dior formula. While the lipsticks have a drier feel they are not at all drying on my lips. The pigmentation is outstanding and the lasting power is excellent. I was surprised that even when topped with a gloss, (which usually drastically shortens a lipstick’s wear time), these lipsticks still lasted for hours and hours.
This year’s shades are:
- #038 Diva which is a gorgeous glossy true red cream. It leans enough on the cool side to keep teeth looking white while being neutral enough to suit all skin tones.
- #042 Winter is a stunning deep berry with a very subtle metallic sheen.
- #046 Minuit was a fun surprise. I don’t know why but from looking at it in the tube I didn’t expect it to be so pink. The pink shimmer was also less noticeable in the tube than on the lips. It really came to life once applied.
As soon as I applied Minuit I realized that the Dior Addict Gloss released with the collection Pink Fantasy was it’s perfect compliment. Here they are together:
I think this is a fabulous release of holiday perfect shades. I found these definitely needed to be applied, or at the very least swatched, to see their true beauty. For some reason or other they seemed far less impressive in the tube than applied. The colours are rich, intense, and incredibly long wearing. Highly recommended.
The limited edition Dior Golden Winter Holiday 2013 Color Collection will hit counters nationwide in Canada in November 2013.
