Cold, harsh winter weather and dry indoor heating can wreak havoc on our skin. Even people who don’t normally suffer from dryness can find themselves needing extra hydration in the winter. Those of use, like myself, who experience dryness year round can find themselves desperate for products that will effectively moisturize our skin and provide comfort, relief, and even protection this time of year. I have thrown together a list of some great products you can turn to to combat winter dryness.

Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate ($58 CAD) – This new serum from Kiehl’s addresses age related dehydration. It is formulated with plant-based glycerin and Shiso Leaf Extract to flood the deepest layers of the skin with moisture and plump from within. Glycerin acts as a moisture magnet while the Shiso Leaf protects against the degradation of Hyaluronic Acid making it a powerful serum that can even nearly double the efficacy of products like the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer and Rosa Arctica Cream.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream ($56 CAD) – Key ingredients of Antarcticine, Imperata Cylindrica and Squalane make this beloved moisturizer an amazing daily hydrating cream. The light texture provides 24 hour hydration and protection against moisture loss.
SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque ($64 CAD) – This mask is inspired by the award-winning SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel. It is a highly concentrated mask with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to replenish the skin’s moisture level.
Kosmea Replenishing Moisture Cream ($49.99 CAD) – The Kosmea skincare line out of Australia features simple, natural ingredients. This antioxidant rich moisture cream contains white tea extract and Hyalurolift to hydrate and plump the skin. I really love how I can look at the ingredient list on the Kosmea products and not only recognize, but feel excited about, the natural and effective ingredients they contain.
Hand Chemistry Intense Youth Complex ($19.99) – This is the cadillac of hand creams. Our hands are something that can reveal our age more than anything else. We often neglect protecting and treating the skin on our hands as optimally as we should considering they are exposed just as much as our face to factors that age our skin. This hand cream is anti-aging skincare for your hands and includes an impressive 19.5% active concentration to improve things like density, elasticity, evenness, and firmness. I can’t be without this now.
CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream ($13.99 CAD) – This fragrance free hand cream features ceramides and hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and niacinamide to help your skin produce more natural ceramides and fatty acids, which are essential for skin barrier repair. It’s water resistant to give long lasting protection against dryness, chapping, and cracking.
Clarins Super Restorative Night Cream ($122 CAD) – The Super Restorative skincare line may be targeted to women over 50 but with my lifetime of dry dehydrated skin combined with my fair complexion I experience more advanced signs of aging. Loss of volume and sagging skin are a struggle I have been fighting for some time now. This rich night cream addresses those needs and keeps my skin hydrated and plump through the winter months. It features the exclusive organic Harungana extract, a “healing” tree from Madagascar, replenishes the skin at all levels while an extraordinary plant extract, Montpelier cistus (a “phoenix” plant), boosts complexion uniformity.
Odacité Po + R Pomegranite Rose Geranium Serum Concentrate ($43 US) – I recently started exploring the Odacité line out of California and I am very excited by both the products and philosophy behind this brand. 100% natural, organic, vegan, and cruelty the products are made fresh to order. Their ultra targeted remedies are organized like a periodic table making finding the right solution for your skin easy and fun. This serum concentrate is a facial oil targeting hydration elasticity and I am absolutely loving it.
Biotherm Lait Corporel Anti-Drying Body Milk ($29 CAD) – OK this post was supposed to be solely dedicated to face and hands but I had to throw in this cult favourite for body hydration. This quick-penetrating milk with citrus extracts is non-greasy and has a light fragrance making it perfect for every day use to fight winter dryness.
