When I first heard about the red Joues Contraste blush being released with the Collection Byzance de Chanel I knew I needed to find a way to get my hands on it. I didn’t own any other red blushes and I knew this was a JC I needed to add to my collection. I was a bit concerned about making it work on my fair skin but was confident I’d find a way.
From Chanel’s website:
The bestselling, ultra-wearable powder blush highlights cheeks with a subtle new shade of red, accentuated with traces of gold and pearlized shimmer. Limited Edition.
Rouge Joues Contraste is gorgeous to behold. It is a deep red with subtle shimmer. When swatched it is incredible how pigmented this blush is. It is probably on of the most pigmented powder products I’ve come across. I know being the Euro baked formula it will likely harden over time but right now it is soft and rich.
I’ve used Rouge in two looks now and both times application was a breeze. I was a little surprised at how easy it was. From what I’d read on other blogs I’d expected a bit more work to be involved. I just dipped the tip of my MAC 187 stippling brush on the surface and tapped it off. I then lightly brushed it onto the apples of my cheeks and blended it in. Other then how gently I picked up the product my application wasn’t really any different than usual. The result was a healthy flush to my cheeks with a subtle glow. I can see reaching for this often as it is more a true blush colour and will coordinate with a lot of looks.
One swipe of my finger on the left and applied with the included brush on the right:
