The Clarins Spring 2017 Contouring Perfection Collection centres around the new limited edition Clarins Face Contouring Palette ($49 CAD). The beautiful slim gold compact includes a matte highlight powder, a shading powder, and a blush.
The highlight and contour shade are both matte. The blush shade has a subtle glow. The powders are firm but smooth, silky and apply and blend nicely on the skin.
I haven’t used the highlight shade as it is deeper than my skintone. The contour shade is more of a warm bronzer on my fair skin than a contour shade. Lovely nonetheless. The blush is a beautiful, universally flattering medium toned warm rose shade. I quite like it!
The palette comes with a small natural hair brush.
My favorite part of the collection is the Clarins 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in 05 Smoky ($45 CAD). This palette truly does give you the perfect smoky eye. There are three shades of charcoal with a pearly white accent.
When I first used this palette I knew that the third shade would have to be my crease shade. The second grey is rather light and has some shimmer, and the forth shade is black. But I was nervous it would be too dark on my fair skin. Well when I took brush to eye and actually started blending the shade into my crease it was instant love. It blended out into the perfect smoky haze on my eyes. I do believe this is my favourite grey crease shade and makes the entire palette worth it for me. Not to say there is anything wrong with the rest of the shades, they are fabulous as well, and complete the look but that third grey is my baby.
There are also three new shades of Clarins Ombre Iridescente ($26 CAD) in the collection. There is 08 Silver White, 10 Silver Grey, and the one I have, 09 Silver Rose which is a beautiful shimmering cool pink. I feel like it has a really unique color shift to it. It is so, so pretty! I love it on the inner third of the lid, paired with the Smoky eyeshadow palette.
This swatch does it no justice at all.
The Clarins Spring 2017 Collection also brings us three new shades of Clarins Joli Rouge Brillant Lipstick ($29 CAD). I adore the Clarins Joli Rouge and Joli Rouge Brillant lipstick formulas. They are so moisturizing and nourishing thanks to the inclusion of organic marsh samphire extract, mango oil, and pro-ceramides. The Brillant formula also includes incredibly fine pearls and the Shine Booster+ Complex to give lips a lush, juicy, shiny finish. I love how healthy and plump my lips look with these lipsticks. The new shades for Spring are 31 Tender Nude (a pinky beige), 33 Soft Plum (a luminous plum), and the shade I have 32 Pink Cranberry which is a gorgeous bright warm fuchsia.
Pink Cranberry is such a pretty, pretty shade. It has a translucent, yet very pigmented, finish that is so flattering.
Now I’m saving the best thing for last. This is one of the funnest, and most creative, beauty product launches I’ve seen in a while. The new Clarins 4-Colour All-in-One Pen ($44 CAD) is just like the colour changing click pens I used to use when I was younger! You select the “pen” you want to use and slide it down. The mechanism is exactly the same as those pens!
The liners are protected in a plastic sleeve and you twist the pen to dispense the product out enough to apply it. There are four products included. There are three eyeliners in black, brown, and bright blue, along with the perfect shade of nude lip liner.
The only drawback with this packaging style is that the retractable liners can’t be sharpened to a fine point. They are a little thicker than a fine liner retractable liner. They are by no means thick, but if you love a crazy sharp line you won’t be able to get one.
