Fair skin and contouring. The age old dilemma, (OK maybe I’m exaggerating), of finding a suitable product for contouring that doesn’t look, orange, brown, muddy on pale skin. Well cue angels singing! Chanel Notorious has answered our prayers! Well scratch angels singing. All I hear in my head is Duran Duran! Notorious! I’m going to be singing that word in my head all day. I just know it.

Chanel Notorious may look a bit scary in the pan. “Umm, you want me to put that on my face?”. Hell yes! It is MAGICAL! It mimics the ACTUAL shade a shadow would make on your skin. Is that not the whole purpose of contouring? I really can’t fathom why their aren’t more products like this out there on the market. I predict we will see a lot more of them now that Chanel has tested the waters successfully with Notorious.

When I first saw Notorious at Holt Renfrew I was a little taken aback by the presence of some shimmer in the pan. I sort of froze and the SA said, “Don’t worry. You don’t see it on the skin.” I hadn’t come all that way to let a little shimmer scare me off so I took a chance and I am SO GLAD I did.

Isn’t she beautiful? The shade is just so perfect on my cool-neutral fair skin. Not the slightest hint of muddiness or orange. It also works beautifully on the eyes. Truly anywhere you want to contour this products fits the bill. Hard to imagine putting a shade like this on your skin could look natural but it does. Trust me. The key is to go lightly and then build if necessary. And blend, blend, blend. I like to lightly touch the pan with my brush, (I like the bdellium 942 but will soon be trying my new Hokuhodo), and then I tap off the excess, then dab the brush on the back of my hand to make sure there isn’t too much product on the brush. The formula is lovely so it makes blending easy.

Here is Notorious in action. I did go a little heavy to ensure it showed up on camera. I apologize for the crazy hair. It’s still wet. Left photo I’m wearing no cheek products, centre I have contoured my cheekbones with Notorious, right photo I have added some blush. Notice how the natural shadow evident in the first pic is the same shade as Notorious in the second pic. Sorry I should have taken these with flash. The lighting is kind of crap so my whole face looks a little muddy and uneven but you can see that Notorious has nothing to do with it. 😉 Just my haggard face. I need me some laser!
