I can’t believe I’ve had this for two days now and haven’t had a chance to share it with you! Please forgive my lack of posting. We are on “vacation” at the moment and while sticking close to home it has still been a busy couple of weeks.
Chanel describes the Lumiere d’Artifices Beiges Illuminating Powder with Shimmer from the Les Essentials de Chanel Fall/Autumn 2012 collection as follows:
Designed to extend a summer glow, this limited-edition duo of lighter and darker beige shades — enchantingly rendered to resemble sequins — blends together harmoniously for a subtly iridescent complexion.
This powder does indeed provide a delicate summer glow with a lovely subtle luminescence. It comes housed in the standard sized Chanel compact inside a black velvet pouch that is used for quads and Joues Contraste blushes. Love when things fit in with my stash of Chanel compacts! There is a separate brush enclosed in it’s own velvet pouch. The brush is a nice size and shape. It is quite soft and usable.
The powder comes with a sparkly overspray to enhance the sequin effect. I’m not overly enchanted by the embossed sequin pattern that Chanel has also used in the past. The overspray is light and is easily brushed away. The following photos show the Chanel Lumiere d’Artifices Beiges Illuminating Powder with the overspray still intact.
I agree with those who mentioned they look more like Cheerios than sequins. 😉
Here are the two shades swatched separately with the overspray still present. You could use these shades separately on the eyes but the stripes are too small to effectively pick up the individual shades with a face brush.
Here is the powder with the overspray brushed off. There are a few random sparkles I left behind but the powder itself is laced with a very delicate shimmer giving a very natural, luminous glow.
Heavy swatches of the blended shades without overspray.
I am very pleased with this powder. I have been applying it with a big fluffy brush as a subtle bronzer and I’m loving the effect.
The Chanel Lumiere d’Artifices Beiges Illuminating Powder with Shimmer from the Les Essentials de Chanel Fall/Autumn 2012 ($65 US) is available online now at Neiman Marcus (where I purchased mine), and Chanel.com.
Edit: I’ve now posted a photo of me wearing the Chanel Lumiere d’Artifices Beiges Illuminating Powder as a subtle bronzer.
