Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Rose Ecrin is a beautiful medium rose. It looks a lot cooler in the pan than it does on my skin. I was actually a little disappointed that Rose Ecrin didn’t come across as a cooler pink when I swatched it. It pulled quite warm on my skin, but my disappointment quickly turned to delight when I tried it on my cheeks and realized it is the perfect neutral rose nude flush that will go with any look at all. It’s a blush you can grab in a hurry and not worry whether it will “go” with the rest of your makeup look.
I must agree with naturalNchicmakeup that the closest JC comparison I can make is to Orchid Rose but without the glitter. I do not care at all for the amount of glitter in Orchid Rose and I NEVER wear it. I much prefer the refined glow of Rose Ecrin. The fabulous Karla Sugar had mentioned when she swatched the collection that she thought Rose Ecrin was similar to the Armani Sheer Blush from the Spring 2011 Transluminence collection but as you can see the Armani blush is a much cooler pink. I had been hoping that Karla’s description of a glowy, soft frozen pink would be more accurate for me with Rose Ecrin but unfortunately it’s not. For whatever reason Rose Ecrin definitely pulls warmer on me than some of the swatches I’ve seen on others, although the effect on my cheeks seems to be fitting with others descriptions. When all is said and done it’s a welcome addition to my Chanel Joues Contraste collection.
