I was very hesitant to order any of the Chanel Fall 2011 Illusions d’Ombres Collection polishes. For two reasons; First is the price. Not just the retail price alone but also the price of having them shipped to me in Canada with the hazardous goods additional shipping fee. I took the plunge on this though because there were other polishes I couldn’t get in Canada that I finally wanted to order. Second is the fact that I do not like metallics. I never buy metallic polishes and I’m also fairly adverse to glitter. I didn’t want to experience the dreaded Chanel LE regret though so I went ahead and ordered Peridot and Graphite.
Peridot applied effortlessly and was opaque in two coats. There are really no brush streaks to speak of which surprised me. I did my mani while watching TV in my poorly lit living room with no issues 😉 I really do love this colour. Honestly, I was expecting to be disappointed. I’m so happy to say that I think Peridot is everything it’s being hyped to be. I actually gasped when I walked from my living room into my kitchen and my nails dipped out of the light and changed to the most beautiful murky dark teal. It is the way this polish plays with light that makes it so special. If you are looking directly at it in solid light it may not seem that exceptional but as your hands move you see the duo-chrome work it’s magic. Hopefully my pictures were able to catch some of this.
Mostly an antiqued gold in direct full on light, sun or artificial. In artificial light it does read more gold though:
This next one is very out of focus but shoes another dimension to the colour:
