I have a few pieces from the Burberry Fall 2016 Runway Makeup Collection to share with you today, including the stunning limited edition Burberry Runway Palette Illuminating Powder Face & Eyes ($72 CAD). This highlight palette features a gorgeous floral design created from the two different shades of powder in the palette.
The palette is adorned with a glittering silver and gold overspray that is quickly removed by sweeping a fluffy brush across the palette.
The illuminating powder looks so intimidating and blingy (yet gorgeous) with the overspray intact, but once it is removed a powder with an incredibly delicate and sophisticated glow is revealed. The design features large enough sections of colour to use each shade individually on the eyes, but for use on the face you pretty much have to swirl both shades together unless you use quite a small highlighter brush.
I am surprised by how much I love this palette. I thought the shade combination looked rather unusual at first for use on the face. One shade is a soft taupe tan while the other is a soft sandy gold. I thought it might be too dark on my skin, or just look off. When blended together the resulting shade looks stunning on the skin. I am really liking it! The palette performs wonderfully on the eyes with the individual shades both looking lovely on the lid or inner corner of the eye together, or solo.
My favorite item in the collection is the Burberry Lip Velvet in Damson No. 425 ($38 CAD). The packaging, the formula, the shade, are all perfection. I am obsessed with this colour! The Lip Velvet formula is supposed to be a matte formula but I find the finish has a very subtle sheen. It is so featherlight on the lips and it isn’t at all drying. I can see this becoming one of my favorite shades for fall.
The collection includes three limited edition glitter top coat polishes including BurberryGold Glitter No. 451 ($23 CAD). Also available in Silver and Ruby. Gold Glitter features uniformly sized glitter in a clear base that gives nails a touch of sparkle.
Is it just me or do mascaras just keep knocking it out of the park lately? Sure you still come across some duds, but I have been discovering so many new formulas that I am loving. One of my new favorites is the new Burberry Cat Lashes Mascara ($32 CAD). I find the brush and wand on this mascara and to be quite unique. It has an hourglass shaped brush that captures the lashes beautifully, fanning them out for lush feathery lashes with impressive volume. The wand is really bendy and flexible which makes manipulating it into the lashes really comfortable. The mascara holds my curl all day and I get absolutely zero smudging and flaking all day with the formula. I mean I can’t even find the teeniest speck of mascara on my skin at the end of the day. It is available in Jet Black, Chestnut Brown, and a really unique Midnight Blonde which is a cool toned deep taupe brown. A great option other than brown for the fair haired looking for something less harsh than black.
